gasoline leak at a major intersection. waterloo police say the crash happened at u.s. 218 and west 11th street around 8:50 last night. the semi's gas tank was ripped open. waterloo fire crews stopped the leak with a special putty. the crash is under investigation. no one was hurt. in cedar falls, one person was hurt when a van hit their car. police say it happened at the intersection of greenhill road and briarwood hill drive around 5:20 yesterday afternoon. an ambulance t hospital. their name and condition isn't released yet. investigators in waterloo released the names of the two people found dead at a home last weekend -- 29- year-old damon gould ii and 33-year-old shaylnn boike. a neighbor found them dead inside a home at 4011 east shaulis road on sunday morning. police are investigating if fumes from a gas generator caused their deaths. in a tv-9 follow-up this morning.. the winneshiek county sheriff's department says a man and a

ended their relationship. there were no arrests and that the public is not at risk. the sheriff's office received reports of gunshots around 6:30 sunday night at 24-72 dogwood road in freeport. that a town just east of decorah. when a deputy arrived on the scene, he found the bodies of 55- year-old craig freilinger of decorah... and sarah szabo . she's 41 and also from decorah. the sheriff's office says they died from gunshot wounds. one person we spoke with home where the shooting took place. "18:49 the first thing everyone heard was screaming. oh god. no. no. please god help up, help me help then four shots went off. when i heard screaming i hit the porch, and when i heard shots i was at the end of the driveway. " again, the sheriff's office says it doesn't believe the public is in any danger. the 1st avenue riley's caf in

likely start serving breakfast again in the spring after a damaging fire. the restaurant's owner hopes work will be done by then. richard pankey says he's working with the city and state health departments to find out what needs to be done to renovate the diner on 1st avenue ne. a fire that started above the kitchen area significantly damaged the restaurant last month. pankey says the whole back half of the restaurant needs an overhaul, including more accessible bathrooms. he says he wants the diner to look the same as before. same feel, and that would be the goal. not to modernize but keep it the same old eclectic riley's with the same good food. " another restaurant pankey owns, daisy's garage, is serving riley's menu until the 1st avenue diner can reopen. as donald trump claims the 2016 election will be rigged -- the linn county

auditor joel miller says all voting in the county is through paper ballots. so those ballots are not connected to the internet in any way, and hackers can't get to them. "that's bogus, that should not be something people should be talking about. we maintain the highest integrity in our elections. especially here in iowa. so i think it's just rhetoric, and i wish it would cease." miller expects poll watchers from both people are volunteers from political parties who make sure everything is fair at polling places. yet governor terry branstad is supporting trump's claim that the election is rigged and national media organizations are intentionally helping hillary clinton. branstad says he agrees with trump that there are efforts to cheat the system and that national media organizations are "colluding" with hillary clinton. branstad, whose son leads trump's iowa campaign,

"the clinton machine has been very effective in manipulating and working with their friends in the national media, including things like the new york times and the washington post. " branstad's position contrasts with other prominent republicans, including house speaker paul ryan and vice presidential nominee mike pence, who have expressed confidence in the election. this saturday is national prescription drug take back day. and to mark the occasion, gove announced a new state initiative. the state is working to provide up to 100 permanent kiosks across the state to collect leftover medications. if you want to drop off medications this weekend, there are more than 100 sites available from 10 am until 2 pm. go to this story on kcrg.com for a link to those locations. a mountain of diapers is not an unfamiliar site for any parents with a baby, and keeping up with that continuing cost can be difficult. that's why the eastern iowa

the state legislature approved almost $10 million dollars to restore the iconic gold 12 to 18 months to finish, which should've started in august. architects are still finalizing drawings and specifications. the facilities manager says they will likely award a contract in january meaning work starting in the spring. people in north liberty now have a new way to get around with a new in- town bus service. the bus operates 5 days a week from 10 in the morning until about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. the bus goes to places like the community center, library, and grocery store. one person says she's excited to

the second highest crest in cedar rapids. this is video over the cedar river in late september. today, the national weather service and the iowa flood center are working to give people tools and resources to help iowans be ready for flooding. the discussion is from 2 to 3:30 pm today in the cedar rapids public library. this man faces charges for a stabbing that seriously injured 2 people outside an apartment complex in cedar falls. 28 year old adam jacobsen is charged with 2 counts of attempted murder. officers say jacobsen, who lives at university avenue studios, stabbed 2 people there around 4:30 p-m yesterday. first responders took jeffery miller, who is 62, to the hospital with potentially life threatening injuries. denice bennett, who is 47, has multiple serious injuries. investigators believe jacobsen randomly chose the victims. a mother and her boyfriend have pleaded not guilty in connection to the death of the mother's 4 year old daughter in waterloo. that's

courier. the boyfriend, chad little, is facing first degree murder charges in the death of gracie buss. the mother, kristi buss, is facing child endangerment charges. prosecutors accuse chad little of abusing the girl, leading to the head injuries that killed her in may of 2015. a waterloo man who died in a fiery car crash last may have been heading to work. that's according to the waterloo- cedar falls courier. investigators say it happened in the 500 block of newell street around midnight friday. officials haven't yet man inside the burning car. they do think it's the vehicle's listed owner. cedar rapids police say the number of burglary reports is up this year by 12%. from january to the end of september, police say they received 801 reports. that's compared to 705 during the same time frame in 2015. officials say one way to deter burglaries is to take part in a neighborhood watch. the police department is holding an informational meeting about the watch program

congressional republicans are pouncing on another story involving the investigation into hillary clinton's emails. newly-released documents show a top state department official allegedly pressured the f-b-i to declassify previously classified emails. the f-b-i and state department deny any "quid pro quo" was offered. according to the f-b-i, no classification changes were made. "the allegation of any kind of quid pro quo is inaccurate and does not align with the facts. so there was no quid pro quo. the fire caused about $2 million dollars in damage. workers were using the equipment to build the controversial pipeline that runs through the state. some landowners say the fires are also threatening livelihoods. "they can protest but this is really damaging people's property. could do the fields and everything." " "there's always a chance with any fire that it could spread. there's still crops around the area. i'm sure the people that are lighting these are probably not concerned about that. " heavily damaged backhoes and bulldozers in jasper county. they happened near reasnor and newton. there was also a fire in nearby mahaska county. investigators say there are many similarities between the most recent fire and the earlier ones. they include where they happened - and the type of equipment damaged. the company building the pipeline, dakota access, is offering $100,000 dollars for information leading to an arrest. for anyone with a newborn, the

reports. the dow jones fell 52 points, the s&p 500 was off 6 points and the nasdaq fell 14. more than 80 companies in the

earnings this week. so far 34 companies have reported 3rd quarter results with nearly 2-3rds exceeding expectations, including several banks. bank of america, jp morgan chase, citigroup and wells fargo all topped forecasts. goldman sachs will report its earnings today. netflix beat forecasts for subscriber additions in the latest quarter. that's good news for investors who were nervous about the company's future. most of the success comes from international markets where netflix added 3.2 million subscribers. in this news sent shares up by 20% yesterday. visa's c-e-o, charles scharf, is resigning. he says he doesn't want to spend enough time in san francisco to do his job effectively. scharf says he wants to be close to family in new york. alfred kelly is taking over. he is a member of visa's board and former president at american express. conversations between striking jim beam workers and management will pick back up today. workers listed their complaints during a
